cool sci-fi
• star wars (episode 4), empire (episode 5), jedi (episode 6)
• the matrix
• iROBOT (isaac asminov short story from the '60's. very cool.)
• alien
• aliens
• the terminator (great story. orignally a french sci-fi movie)
• T2 (great effects, but first one had a better story) (definitely NOT T3!)
• predator
• the thing (john carpenter's awesome remake)
• blade runner
• the fifth element ("mul-tee-pass. lelu dallas multipass.")
• dream catcher (it's a mystical sci-fi with a touch of 'stand by me')
• contact
• the abyss
• mission to mars
• 2010 (2 of 3 in the arthur c clarke 2001 space odessy series. the third one, 2061 was never turned into a movie)
• star trek: TNG (the next generation) all, but the last movies were great
tv series: episodes: "transfigurations," "tin man," "yesterday's enterprise" "generations" (final episode), anything with Q or the borg or time travel, others..
• star trek 4 (original cast)
• star trek 2 (original cast. typical star trek. the essence of trek)
• galaxy quest (funny star trek parody)
• a sound of thunder (a ray bradbury short story that influenced every time travel movie in the last 40 years)
• a sound of thunder (a ray bradbury short story that influenced every time travel movie in the last 40 years). ***oh wait..you already have that one. i'm the future me trying to remind the current me of cool sci-fi movies. the fate of the world depends on it..***
• alien visitor (australian. good message)
• powder
• phenomenon
'50's:
• forbidden planet (original inspiration for 'sphere')
• the day the earth stood still
• repo man (more cult movie classic than sci-fi, but has sci-fi elements. lots of punk music and attitude and emilio estevez)
• stargate
• mars attacks! (a little off like tim burten. a war of the worlds parody. the aliens were killed the same way they were in 'attack of the killer tomatoes')
i wouldn't recommend steven spielberg's war of the worlds, the '50's version was better, and actually, i liked the original radio broadcast even better.
yes, there's more to come ..
